Canadian Wildlife Documentary Coming in 2025: Destiny Wild | The Return

Some wild places and the work being done to save species keep pulling me back.

For the past seven months I’ve been in the field for many many hours in the Long Point Biosphere Region of southern Ontario to document and capture stories of wildlife research and habitat restoration efforts.

It’s all part of my filming work for a sequel film to the 2023 documentary A Priority Place – Hope For A Forest.

The new documentary Destiny Wild | The Return will be finished in 2025. I expect to wrap up filming work in December and begin post-production in early 2025.

Below is a short official pre-trailer teaser that premiered at a conservation research conference in November 2024 about the documentary. The film will be a dive into one of Canada’s most ecologically significant landscapes in the Long Point Biosphere Region. The region’s Long Point Walsingham Forest is designated as a Priority Place for conservation efforts by the Canadian government. The film Destiny Wild | The Return showcases the inspiring collaboration between conservationists, researchers, and Indigenous partners as they restore habitats, reintroduce rare species, and combat invasive threats.

Through breathtaking footage and compelling storytelling, audiences will witness the forest’s resurgence — from the return of wildlife species, to the quiet yet powerful work of community volunteers. This journey highlights the delicate balance needed to sustain biodiversity and the innovative efforts driving environmental restoration. Join us on this hopeful path of resilience and renewal, celebrating the extraordinary efforts to protect this unique forest for future generations. This is more than just a film — it’s a call to action and a vision of the future we can create together. The film will premiere in 2025. Look for the official trailer to be released in spring 2025.
