Great budget microphone for outdoors vlogging
Looking for a budget shotgun microphone for the outdoors? The new MOVO VXR10Pro costs only $50US and I must say, after using it for the first time in the woods for this video and listening to the audio afterwards, I was impressed.
This microphone is battery-free which means it draws power directly from your phone or camera. That is a terrific feature for vloggers who don’t need to worry about batteries in a microphone. You can also use it with any recording device with a 3.5mm TRS or 3.5mm TRRS port. That’s fancy tech talk for it will work with your DSLR or smartphone.
The microphone’s supercardioid audio pickup patterns means it can capture crisper audio compared to a standard directional or cardiod microphone. Also noteworthy is that this MOVO microphone also features a Rycote Lyre shock mount. Rycote mounts are the same mounts used by many high end professional microphones such as RODE. These mounts virtually eliminate handling noise and vibrations.
The VXR10 Pro also includes a deadcat cover which fits over the microphone and further helps to eliminate wind noise. This is another nice inclusion, as many other microphones sell deadcats as extra add-ons.
