WorkCabin Creative specializes in a niche it knows well. Very well. Nature and conservation videography is what we do. We don't do weddings. We don't do real estate. And we're not video generalists. That's jargon for those videographers who literally make videos about anything and anyone who comes calling. WorkCabin Creative is about more. It's about having a genuine connection to conservation and our conservation clients. It's about walking the talk and knowing the language of what we do for, and with our conservation clients. Our difference is why leading conservation organizations choose u

Gregg McLachlan

Founder, Filmmaker

WorkCabin Creative is an environmental visual storytelling videography business created by award-winning journalist, conservationist and filmmaker Gregg McLachlan. He grew up in southern Ontario and Muskoka. His greatest childhood love was looking at topographic maps and setting out on adventures in the woods. It's in these wild places where his love of telling stories began

Videography,
Filmmaking.

Based in the woods in Ontario

When you partner with filmmaker Gregg McLachlan, you’re engaging a former award-winning journalist and expert in natural, authentic and real environmental storytelling. That’s especially vital today. Audiences want content that’s believable and they can trust. They want to know that what they just watched is a reflection of the real you. That’s what being memorable is all about.

Cinematic
Storytelling.

Look professional. Stand out

From 30 seconds to 20 minutes or more, Gregg’s background as a journalist gives him the tools to imagine and build conservation stories from beginning to end, and keep viewers engaged. Whether it’s authentic interviews or stunning visual scenes, Gregg keeps a story moving. Perhaps his biggest skill is his in-field collaboration which helps organizations see opportunities and possibilities.

Video Editing
Services.

Go beyond average

Many of you shoot your own clips with your smartphone or basic DSLR. The problem you have is putting it all together, making it look at least somewhat professional. And it’s no secret that video editing can really gobble up the time of your staff. WorkCabin Creative can save you time, improve your video with titles, overlays, intros and extros, fix audio issues, and clean up your footage so it looks better.

Aerial Videos

Up and over your landscapes

Filmmaker Gregg McLachlan is licensed by Transport Canada and fully insured to perform commercial drone videography and aerial photography. That means his customers have peace of mind that they are using a legal drone service provider who is compliant with Canada’s drone laws. Our drone filmmaking and photography focus is on rural locations, wilderness, the outdoors, and environmental conservation. Our rates are affordable. And in many cases, we can be up and over a location, and done, in one hour.

The passion, skill and attention to detail Gregg brings to our conservation video and photography projects is exceptional. A skilled content creator that understands the environmental conservation field intimately

Nicole Senyi, Communications Manager, Ontario Region, Nature Conservancy of Canada

At the peak of pandemic lockdowns in the Spring, we needed to produce high-quality videos in record time. WorkCabin Creative was critical in making it happen. Gregg is creative, flexible, fast, and a very smooth editor. Furthermore, he brought some of his own video materials into the project, which made it very powerful

Why work with Gregg?
Gregg knows conservation budgets

Well, for starters, Gregg will blow up the myth that getting a professional video is beyond your reach. Gregg's end-to-end pre-production, filming and post-production services means he keeps it all in-house and very affordable. Ten years of working for conservation means Gregg works with hjis clients to find ways forward and meet budgets big and small.

Gregg lives and breathes the outdoors

Gregg gets it. His clients get it too. To be connected to the outdoors and nature, and make a living telling stories about the outdoors and nature, you need to know the outdoors and nature. Bam! Gregg's got that covered! Conservation and the outdoors is his speciality. Gregg's boots are on the ground in nature every day. Also, often in a red canoe too!

Gregg understands your audience and goals

Gregg is not wedding a videographer. He's not part-time or a moonlighter. Nope. Gregg specializes full-time in the great outdoors and conservation. Period. It's his genuine niche. He lives it every day. The beauty of nature is in everything Gregg makes. He knows your audience. He understands your goals. He speaks your same conservation language and has shared values. Clients that work with Gregg say that matters.

Gregg is up to the task (and the bugs!)

It's no small challenge to hike through a 900-acre forest, boat across the rough waters of a Great Lake, or live off the grid in a cabin in a remote place to create videos for organizations. The experience and outdoors skillset has been hard won. Many mistakes, issues, unforeseen obstacles, and lessons learned along the way. When Gregg says he knows the terrain of what he does, he really does mean it!
